Over the weekend NHS England have identified a sub group of Patients most at risk from Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
If you are identified within this group you will be receiving a letter by 29.03.2020 directly from NHS England to confirm this and advise of measures necessary to be taken. In addition we will be texting patients directly to confirm this.
Please do not contact us to find out if you are in this group as this is coming directly from NHS England.
If you haven’t been contacted within 2 weeks and feel you should be in this group then please contact us after this point.
We now have 'Extended Access' appointments available for patients which are at five different Hub locations around North Staffordshire & Stoke. The appointments are between 4 and 8 pm, or we also have some at weekends.

As a precautionary measure only we have changed our current appointment system.
All appointments will now be offered as telephone triage with either a GP or an Advanced Practitioner. If the Clinician feels that you need to be seen then they will offer you an appointment.
This is to limit patient contact for the safety of everyone during the coronavirus pandemic
We are currently contacting all patients that have routine appointments booked to offer a telephone triage appointment as an alternative.

Information about the virus
A coronavirus is a type of virus. As a group, coronaviruses are common across the world. Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
Novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China.
We would like to advise our patients that we are now able to provide appointments on Saturday mornings. The surgeries are being delivered by our local Network of practices (Orchard Surgery, Millrise Medical Practice and Baddeley Green Surgery) as part of a new government initiative. The location of the appointment will rotate between the practices so you may be offered an appointment at any of the 3 surgery premises. We are able to offer a range of appointments types as the sessions will be staffed by a combination of GP’s, Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Health Care Assistants. The staff working may not always be your regular GP or Nurse, however they are all local to the area. This is part of a new way of working for practices and we hope that our patients will benefit from these additional appointments.

We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

The practice is required by the Government under the terms of the latest GP contract to allocate all patients a named accountable GP.
All patients registered with the parctice now have a named GP, this is a recent NHS requirement which is for practice purposes only and does not affect your right to request an appoitment with the GP of your choice.
The practice does however keep a record of your registered (accountable) GP. If you wish to be told the name of your accountable GP, please ask the receptionists when you are next in the surgery.
We will continue to offer appointments to our patients in exaly the same way.
Please note: there is no need to telephone the practice for this information.
Where a patient expresses a preference as to which GP they have been assigned, the practice will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request.
Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice. Your named GP will not be available at all times and if your needs are urgent, you may need to discuss them with an alternative doctor.
